Privacy policy

Short version: this website sets no cookies, has no analytics or tracking, and loads nothing from other sites. The servers that deliver it necessarily see your IP address; we don't keep access logs.

This policy covers the website meshvpn.dev. The meshvpn software itself sends nothing to us; what it exchanges with other services (for example STUN servers and, if you switch it on, the BitTorrent DHT) is described in its documentation.

1. Controller

Responsible for the processing of personal data on this website (Art. 4 No. 7 GDPR):

PlugOvr.ai, Dr.-Ing. Cornelius Wefelscheid
Weg zur Platte 12, 45133 Essen, Germany
E-mail: cw@plugovr.ai, phone: +49 201 40992311

We are not required to appoint a data protection officer. For any question about your data, write to the address above.

2. Visiting the website (hosting)

The website is a set of static pages, stored at Amazon Web Services in Frankfurt (Amazon S3) and delivered by Amazon CloudFront. To deliver a page, these servers necessarily process the data your browser sends: your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the browser and operating system (user agent) and the referring page.

  • Purpose: delivering the website securely and reliably (for example protection against attacks).
  • Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is a website that works and is secure.
  • Storage: we have not switched on access logs, so we keep no record of your visit. Amazon processes the data only as long as needed to deliver the page and for the security of its service.
  • Processor: Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL, 38 Avenue John F. Kennedy, L-1855 Luxembourg, under a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR; the AWS GDPR Data Processing Addendum).
  • Transfers outside the EU: CloudFront delivers the pages from the location nearest to you, in Europe or North America. Amazon Web Services, Inc. (USA) is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (adequacy decision of the European Commission, Art. 45 GDPR); the AWS Data Processing Addendum also includes the EU standard contractual clauses (Art. 46 (2) (c) GDPR).

3. No cookies, no tracking, no third-party content

We set no cookies and use no analytics, tracking pixels, advertising, social media plugins or embedded content from other sites. The fonts are delivered from this website itself, not from Google or any other provider.

If you switch between the light and the dark theme, your browser remembers your choice in its local storage (key theme). This happens only when you click the switch, stays in your browser and is never sent to us. It is strictly necessary to provide the function you asked for (§ 25 (2) No. 2 TDDDG). You can delete it at any time in your browser's settings.

4. Contact by e-mail

If you write to us (for example to security@plugovr.ai), we process your e-mail address and what you write to answer you. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in answering inquiries), or Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR where your inquiry concerns a contract. We delete the e-mails when they are no longer needed, unless statutory retention periods apply.

5. Links to other websites

This website links to GitHub (source code, downloads, documentation). When you follow such a link, the privacy policy of that site applies: GitHub, Inc., USA (GitHub Privacy Statement). Downloads with the installation commands shown here also come from GitHub.

6. Your rights

You have the right to access your personal data (Art. 15 GDPR), to rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18) and data portability (Art. 20). Where we process data on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, you have the right to object to the processing on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21 GDPR). To exercise these rights, write to the address in section 1.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), for example the one responsible for us: Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen, Kavalleriestraße 2–4, 40213 Düsseldorf, www.ldi.nrw.de.

7. No automated decisions

We make no automated decisions and no profiling (Art. 22 GDPR).

8. Changes

We update this policy when the website or the law changes. Version: 8 November 2026.
